Description

The aim of these spool adapters is to make the end result as similar as possible to the dimensions of the Bambu Lab spools, for a seamless integration with the AMS. I've tried a few other existing spool adapters, but none were perfect. Either the size was not correct, or they were not strong enough and were bending after some usage, or they were too thick for some specific spools (the ABS black spool I have is 65mm wide, meaning that with a wide adapter, it would not fit in the AMS anymore).

I've spent several hours measuring several different SUNLU spools and this is the result. The same ring should be printed twice and it can be used for both the right and left side of the spool.

Tested spools:

  • SUNLU PLA+
  • SUNLU PLA Luminous
  • SUNLU PETG
  • SUNLU ABS

Please note that since I only own the filaments above, all other types are untested. I will update the models if I buy any new filament types in the future.

I have printed my adapters using SUNLU PLA+ and with Bambu PLA Matte, getting great results in both cases. Please let me know if you encounter any problems.

that's not a problem with the model my friend. clean the plate and dry the filament, I've printed dozens of this with different brands and never had an issue.

I used PETG, but it is very noisy, I have to try printing with TPU

You're not using fuzzy skin? I've found that these ring adapters generally don't work well for me without the extra "grip" of fuzzy skin.

can you make one for the sunlu 250g pla+ the small spools. I tried many different ones here and none of them fit right

I would if I had one, but unfortunately I don't and without precise measurements and a way to test it, it would be very hard to make it well. if you could provide measurements and be willing to help test it, then I could certainly make it. I would need the diameter of the spool and the thickness of the "sides" (the part that sits on the rolls of the AMS). it might help to also know the width of the spool.

I've made this adapter using OpenSCAD, but I'm no master myself, this is quite simple. I would like to teach myself fusion360 one day, though.

isnt the SunLu PLA normal print temperature 200-210 & 205-215. that is 15 degress different than 220c that bamu's profile has. Is that working out better than SUNLU's own temperature suggestions?

bambu printers are a lot faster than most other printers, that's why you have to print hotter with every filament (unless you're printing slow). do a temp tower to figure out the ideal temperature.

Now I understand why the profile that I created for Sunlu TPU didn't work as well as just choosing the Bambu TPU profile. I had set the temps based on the amazon product page, which were a lot cooler than the Bambu TPU. Also, the plate bed is 20C different between the two. Sunlu suggest 55C and Seems like Bambu TPU profile is using 35C. I'm going to have to lookup what a temp tower is. I'm glad I found your comment.

Fits perfectly, but im noticing some little bumps around the outer wall, and the bumps seem to appear at the same spot of every ring i print. I dont think it is over extrusion issue as my printer is fairly dialed in and i dont see this issue on other prints but I cant really figure out what is causing the bumps yet.
