Nine-Tailed Demon Fox
Published 2019-02-11T16:13:53+00:00
There's something about nine-tailed fox spirits that fascinates me, this one is one of my favorites featured in the manga/anime Naruto.
This is a support free print by design, you can print the fox and the base separate or together.
My print was done using filament that changes color based on temperature (Amolen tri-color volcanic) and the effect is amazing but needs some heat source to bring it out, I used a hair dryer for the pics. No post processing otherwise.
Update: Due to feedback I've uploaded a version with sturdier tail root and slightly adjusted overhang that should be a bit easier to print. Please ensure your part cooling is up to the task too, if you don't think it can do the overhangs you do need to use supports.
Update 2: Added even easier version without the base with the fingers also fixed for better first layer adhesion.
If you print without the base you probably need to use a brim to keep the first layer on the print bed, especially if you scale this down.
To print the tails without supports you do need a good part cooling, I used Z-hop and "avoid crossing perimeters" settings too to avoid crashing into any lifted overhangs.

Printed, Unfortunately the nozzle knocked off some tail despite the z-hop. *Fout-tailed demon fox XD
First print came put a four tailed fox. I messed with the Slic3r settings and it came out nearly flawless. Because of the design of the center five tails you really need to slow down the print and have z-hop on if available on your printer.
love the design I just tested my printer with a scaled down version (25%) and It looks pretty good I'm gonna adjust the retraction & move on to a full sized version but I really want that filament you used do you have a link, please?
Came out awesome! Thank you for the updated model, you do great work!
Printed on Anet A8 with Amazon PLA and painted with acrilyc colors. The base is in Fillamentum Vertigo Galaxy. It came out really great, with some strings. But the Amazon PLA is great for those overhangs, even without a good cooling fan
Printed at layer height 0.14 with Anycubic orange pla
It snapped at the tail
Got a GOD DAMN layer shift and a blobbing problem!
I finished it with some acrylic paint and small detail brushes. The base printed amazingly with amolen bronze filament.
This was a fun print. It took about 5 tries, but it was totally worth it. CR-10 Pro
Creality CR-10S Pro
I was referring to the NO base part "01", the tail and butt where it connects doesnt seems like its not beefy as the "02" file. I want to print this up to at least 25" tall with no base and worried that it might break on the tail connection, still planning. So I print out and scaled the "02 file" to 8.75" tall instead and It came out awesome... thank you for the file.
Amazing File and Amazing design @kijai. Flawless print. I had an issue but it's my own problem. My printer under extruded on a section of its tail but I managed to fix it whilst printing. Will print this again to get a perfect print. So much High Five for @kijai
Zi-Rui Marble PLA - 0.2mm LH - 15% infill - Default Slic3r PE settings - No Supports
Subarashi :D Thx for the design !

this one is scaled way down about 39-ish%. the color was achieved my printing my own filament with two colors.
Printed on Prusa i3 MK3S
Amazing print!
Printed on my CR10S using the Microswiss all metal hotend and diamonized nozzle using a Wood PLA from Tianse-3D. 210 nozzle and 50 bed. Printed at 50% scale, 0.2 layer height and 25% infill
stampato con Anet A8 prima volta che dipingevo spero che vi piaccia
My print failed because my FLSUN QQ doesn't have a filament runout sensor! Actually this would be the first time in 3 printers one would have been useful... Adapted to be a shelf to display small prints!
printed a 1:2 scale on my PhotonS turned out pretty well i think
Love the print. It was a XMAS Present and came out great
Printed on alfawise U20 with violet silk filamenr
First time painting a model and first time using wood PLA. Pretty happy of the result ! Thanks for the awesome model!

Multi-Color PLA from Mika3D
Still need to calibrate some settings on my Phenom. but it didnt come out too bad!
Printed on an EPAX X1 in Elegoo clear resin and painted in various pigments which were then blended together.
This was a really fun print! I tried to replicate the photo provided, obviously it was not as good-looking, but I got some exposure and experience with an airbrush.
First printed model using resin and a DIY flexible sheet mod of mine - worked like a charm!
Turned out great! Printed at 80% scale in Black PETG for the base then switched to Damantium PETG for the fox. 0.15 layer height, no supports or brim.

Beautiful model! Color changing filament on the Prusa Mini.
Bad Picture. Great print!
Printed on Creality Ender 3, layer height 0.2, 2 perimeters, 16% infill both fox and base. I used orange and gold PLA. Thanks for sharing this awesome model!
Printed at .2 with orange to yellow color change PLA. Still need to apply paint but couldn't wait to share lol.
did print nicely on my ender s1 pro , at .28th layer height unfortunately 2 of the tails broke off , will print again at a later time , but i'm happy for so far so thank you.
I'm just a beginner and I'm surprised I was able to print this with no supports! I'm going to add some paint. These took 9 and 11 hours.
Nice Model.
Jukka Seppänen makes awesome models. I shrunk it to print with a 50mm base and it printed great.
Très bonne figurine, aucun problème d'impression avec une bambulab P1P.
I Love it. Thanks for your Work.
Matterhackers Orange Pro PLA .2mm layer height, still came out with so much detail!
