I made these for playing Chain of Command but they are also suitable for Bolt Action and other games. Due to the limitations of 3D printing I had to make some compromises on detail and the Solothurn is a bit shorter than it should be to fit on a 50mm base.
I have not tested them at 20mm or 15mm but I would expect most would print at 20mm.
I opted for the M33 helmet. This was used in all theatres so these figures are equally suitable for desert and European actions. I have added a tropical helm and a head with the tropical helm attached because it was requested.
Why Italians?
First, Italians fought nearly every major power in WW2. They fought British in N Africa, Sicily and Italy, USA in Italy, Russians in Russia, French in the Invasion of France and even the Germans during the fall of Italy in 1943. This means they can be played historically against nearly everyone.
Secondly, Germans tend to be good at everything and everyone plays them, they are all you normally see. The Italians need a bit more work and have a few quirks, the Italians are different and variety is good.
Third, the same basic uniform design can be used from 1940 desert through to 1943. The only thing that changed was the colour. With this STL set you can actually have 2 armies (3 if you include Bersaglieri).
Thank you to Raphael Longbow for helping test print and kindly painting and photographing the models.
Thank you to Propylene for supplying me a roughed out Adrian helmet. It needed a little work to finish it off for printing but it saved me a lot of work, thanks. His store is at https://www.wargaming3d.com/vendor/just-some-miniatures/

Printing these at 15mm. Look great! Also purchased the Japanese and would love to see more nations come out!
