Description

Due to hotend design there is problem, that hotend fan is taking air to cool down from bad places where is hot air, like bellow from around heatblok and heatbed and that can lead to melt filament too soon before heatblok and cause clog. So to prevent this heat creep I designed a little fan duct to prevent that. Its made to take air directly from the side of hotend housing. Its made simply to just screw directly to part cooling fan, than you can assemble front hotend housing as normal. Hope it will help you.

Print from PETG or ABS for better heat resistance.

There is also model for X1C/X1 in my published models: https://makerworld.com/de/models/98684#profileId-105217

print profile is file but model seem a little tight. I have to leave the screw a little lose so it could move around a bit, otherwise the top of the housing wouldn't snap back in to place correctly. looking forward to seeing if it helps with creep.

If you screw it there that way as on your photo its wrong. Look at my photo how it should be screwed in tbere, that cutouts should be pointing outwards from front housing.

hi thanks for letting me know, I had worked it out but forgot to update the photo. did find the Allen key fits through the screw hole, so the pass through hole could be reduced

Also did an 8 hour PLA print with the lid on and door closed and didn't have a single issue. would have been concerned about that before. however the ambient temp has dropped which can give me warping issues. summer will be the time to see if it has improved hotend cooling.

Fits great and it should improve the movement of heat from the hotend. I printed it in black and silver petg.

Use original from part cooling fan as you can see on photo.

Is the hole on the side panel small enough to provide sufficient airflow for cooling?

They are there to let enough air in. That fan is really small and dont take that much air.
