Description

Do you have the following printer errors when printing with the AMS?

Failed to pull out the filament from the extruder

Failed to feed the filament into the toolhead

Well, give this little mod a try!

In my case, I found the most common cause of these errors to be the PTFE tube having too much of a curve as it enters the extruder. This little bracket easily clips onto the cable guide on top of the extruder body and keeps it straight.

NOTE: This is a remix of Bambu Lab's own design, they are providing the (unmodified) STL file of this to some users who contact support about AMS problems. In this remix, I made the following changes:

  1. Added hole for the PTFE tube instead of open-bottom, this way the tube does not slide out as the print head moves.
  2. Modified design for easier printing with no supports needed.
  3. Shaved 2mm off the top of the model so it can never bang against the glass lid of the printer like Bambu's design did.
  4. Orientated the model properly for printing.
  5. Added windows on the side for a more mechanical look and visibility of PTFE tube.

Will it fix your problems?

Maybe, maybe not. I think the AMS system on this printer needs a lot of refinement, but since I have created this and installed it, I have noticed a lot less error messages. It's only 1.3 grams of filament and 5 minutes to print, so give it a shot.

Printing settings:

  • Print in PETG, ABS, ASA, Poly, or Nylon. PLA will not survive.
  • Print at 0.16mm layer height with 0.4mm nozzle.
  • Print with a large brim around the base - I recommend 15mm brim.
  • No supports are needed with most materials.

How to install:

  1. Straighten PTFE tube (bend) by hand to be very straight (according to Bambu).
  2. Slide PTFE tube through hole in bracket.
  3. Insert PTFE tube into extruder to lock in place.
  4. Slide the straightener down the PTFE tube and onto the coupler inside the extruder.
  5. Press it down onto the coupler inside the extruder to lock into place.
  6. If properly installed it should swivel around, and look like the photos.

How did you make it work well for you? It almost always gives me problems when the filament is picked up and a new one inserted.

I used PETG and it doesn't seem printed the best as it pops off at times. Otherwise a great model.

I often had the same Problem with PETG then I dried it 12 Hours and printed slower about 150mm/s and now it works great. I hope it help´s you. 😃

oof, that's lookin' rough, my friend. Dry the filament, run a full calibration on your printer, make sure your nozzle is clean, and run off some calibration models and First-Layer tests. PETG should look BEAUTIFUL coming off a Bambu printer

It looked good but again the PTFE tube rests on the glass I also tried with clips again with no result

have exactly the same issue. I removed the the Extruder Bracket as the Glass is still being touched. A possible solution is to shorten the PFTE tube a bit, to be more tight.
