Description

Notice, this design is for the newer style of AMS feeding funnel that has a thicker press button. If you're having an older AMS unit with slimmer press buttons, please get the original Hydra AMS - PTFE Load Button here:

Thanks to Kamil Kubica for bringing this to my attention.

Notice: Not all new AMS units will have the newer feeding funnel pictured above, please check yours before printing.

Update November 15, 2023

Version 1.5 has been uploaded. It has a tab locking it in place, preventing the button from falling off which could occationally happen when changing spools with the previous version.

About

These are enlarged PTFE load buttons for Hydra AMS. They're designed to both save the AMS funnels and improve ergonomics.

Which version to print?

There are two versions, the only difference is the clearance against the PTFE tube. For most the “normal” version should fit well. You may want to clear the hole with a 4 mm drill bit.

Print Settings

Print them in the direction I have set them with the button flat on the bed. Use a layer height of 0.20 mm or lower. You can paint the logo in the slicer if you like:

Installation

Press the bottom of the feeder and at the same time install the button. Once done, press down the PTFE tube a little to lock it in place.

You must install the buttons after the main Hydra AMS is in place in the box, not before (there is not enough space otherwise).

Hello, unfortunately the lid of the AMS cannot be closed properly with these PTFE load buttons on the Hydra Pro. This presses against the tubes and opens the insertion. Did I take the wrong ones? Best regards

It should close fine with version 1.6 but it's still very barely clears, the space is very tight to maximize spool compatibility. It might be that the front of Hydra Pro is not fully pressed to the bottom, I recommend using these to ensure it's fully pressed to the bottom at the front: https://makerworld.com/en/models/18543 Else, you might need to loosen the two screws of Hydra Pro and move it back a few mm.

I have already used the Silica Dry Boxes, which are quite difficult to insert and press quite heavily on the floor. I have now loosened the rear screws to pull it back a little and removed the PTFE load buttons again for the time being. Do you perhaps have a comparison picture of what it should normally look like?

I do not but if the silica boxes are too large perhaps you need to scale them down slightly, not all AMS boxes are identical, mine differ slightly. I'll see if I can make an update for version 1.7 the next few days to offer some more clearance.
