Description

This is a double axle dump truck with pup trailer. I designed it to accompany my tracked excavator model. It is intended to be tough enough to play with as a toy, not just a shelf model.

Everything assembles with snap fits, but if you want the wheels to really spin freely, a drop of mineral oil or a smidge of petroleum jelly on each axle before assembly will help.

The tires and mudflaps can be printed in TPU as well as PLA. The TPU print profile has the tires slightly undersized for better retention.

2024-05-19: Added scarf seams, added TPU profile, fixed dump body geometry error at pivot

2024-05-06: Added brim to dump gate, more piston clearance, modelled roll-over tarp cover

2024-04-18: Updated out of date dump body STLs to match 3mf files

2023-12-04: Minor changes to truck and trailer chassis pistons to reduce sticking

2023-11-19: Increased retention on wheels. Let me know if you have issues with them being too loose or taking a lot of force to install.

Sorry, I just caught an error in the trailer chassis that was causing it to not hinge very well. I've uploaded a fixed model.

Sorry I bumped it down. Tried 4 different times to make. always seems to break the shaft. but no big deal the problem I have is box seems to big breaks off the exhaust. looks bowed. But thanks much.

Did you download recently? that looks like an older stl. The 3mf and newer stls should have that issue fixed

Looks amazing, and goes great with the excavator I feel like the back axles could be more rounded so that the wheels spin freely just like on a pup trailer without the need for lube as all the dirt gets sucked into them when my son plays outside. Added a profile for a tweaked pup trailer so you can chain them together. Printed at 138%, with Voxel PLA plus, "gold" (great yellow actually) and dark blue.

Clever design that made good use of the advantages of 3D printing and print in place. The base of the outermost hydraulic cylinder could be strengthened, as it’s a weak point when trying to knock loose the inner cylinders.

Thanks, as soon as scarf seams are released I will be able to make that cylinder way less likely to stick, unfortunately it’s a beta feature still so it can’t go up on makerworld.
