I initially wanted to make something a little more complicated but the more I pondered it the more I liked the idea of something simple and functional. I initially switched from the frame mount to bearing mounts that sit on my desk, I don't remember exactly what style but you can see them among the clutter on my desk. They worked okay but my spool and the rolls tended to skew a lot so I decided I wanted something different but couldn't find anything that fit what I envisioned so I made my own. I printed in PETG, should have used PLA but it was what was loaded in the printer when I queued it from work so it is what it is. It took around 7 hours to print on my i3 MK3 with 2 perimeters and 20% infill.
edit: added the current iteration of the spool holder.
