Description

A neighbor of mine has chicken and ducks. They needed a way to store their eggs. I looked around and found some egg holders online. Problem with them: inefficient material usage. All the models I found used 120g or more to store a dozen eggs. I can do better.

 

I designed several versions. The 2x3 version is stacked to hold 12 eggs using under 100 grams. You can print the single layer twice to hold 12 eggs and only use 62grams of material. This and the single layer 2x6 are the most efficient from a material perspective. Fridge space is a factor one should condiser. Hence more sizes. There is a 2x5, 2x6, and 5x5 version. The 5x5 is the maximun size that can be printed on a 255 bed. I personally like the 2x3 dual layer or 2x6 version.

 

I designed the 5x5 when my neighbor said they have around 60 eggs at any given time which are kept in their fridge. When I told them how big it was, its too big to resaonable fit into their fridge with other food. That is were the 2x5 and 2x6 comes in handy. These are for many applications the ideal for fridge efficiency. The single layer 2x6 beats the material usage for the 2x3 dual layer btw.

 

The print profile has all the variants positioned for no support. Ignore the error/warning. The plates are labeled but firmware has yet to implemented to read the plate names when choosing from the screen.

I did print it. But it is only for small eggs. So for little bigger eggs you have to ad at least 10% on the XY axes, Z axe, leave at is. Where I live, (Sweden) we have different sizes on eggs to choose from when you buy them. Just a little reminder for those who want to print this. In all, it is a great model. Nolan B.
