@Filament_KingWhat you have there is large enough to be structurally usable. There will be a small gap, but because you are printing with a dark color it will not stand out. I do not know why you are having trouble with it falling. I can suggest cleaning your plate. Personally I use Windex wipes between prints making sure that I leave a good coat of residue each time.

somehow my bed is not going low enough and it hitting the print.

Is there something under the bed that is impeding the bed to travel all the way down? Are the lead screws clear of debris?
