STAR WARS DARTH MAUL, THE CLONE WARS SPIDER BODY, VINTAGE STYLE 3.75", 1/18 KENNER HASBRO CUSTOM ACTION FIGURE.

Darth Maul, The Clone Wars spiderbody. This figure is not a screen accurate version from the cartoon, just my interpretation of this particular interation of Darth Maul. I wanted to add some more visual interest. I thought the spider concept was great, but the overall design just looked like a bundle of wires

I used ball and socket joints for the legs. While they work great for adjustability, they are not the best joints for maintaining their positioning. 3D printing media wither it's filament or resin does not have a memory.. Meaning once printed it does not neccesarily want to maintain it's shape. This is the problem with ball joints and 3D prints. The socket portion just will not maintain a tight grip on the ball and will cause it to become loose in a short period of time. For this reason I HIGHLY recommend adding a few drops of superglue to the socket when you assemble the figure. Just make sure you get it properly posed first, The figure will balance on 4 legs, so in theory you would really only need to glue four legs. You can leave two as adjustable legs, (I left the front two unglued in the pictures.)

*Printing the legs- There is a left and right rear leg file. There is however only one (leg v2). Print this x4 for the remaining legs. these legs are all the same.
I enjoy making custom figures and have a special interest in the vintage Kenner style action figures with 5 point articulation. My goal is to make custom unproduced figures that capture the same style of those vintage figures and feature the same articulation. I would like to build a collection of figures that enthusiasts the world over can enjoy and print from home.
