Description

TL;DR: The LUX Poop Deflector is created to match the aesthetics of the A1 printer, reduce surface contact with poop to potentially allow for PLA use, and maintain an appealing design even in shiny PETG. It features an exposed gyroid infill pattern and is currently being tested on two A1 printers.

I started by designing the LUX Poop Bucket as I was not satisfied with the available buckets due to their tall height. The buckets do not need to be tall as long as you have a Poop Deflector. I printed the poop deflector that has the highest number of downloads and it does its job really well. It was printed in PETG because the poop will stick to the deflector if it was printed in PLA.

What I didn't like was that it looks like a mini table tennis racket stuck to my printer. I also do not like the shiny nature of the PETG filament.

My goal of designing the LUX Poop Deflector is to

  1. Create a deflector design that matches the aesthetics of the A1 printer
  2. Experiment with reducing the surface area contacting the poop so that PLA can potentially be used
  3. Design something that looks good even in shiny PETG

This is an experimental design that uses Bambu Studio's modifier to achieve the gyroid infill as a surface pattern. Currently I am testing the designs on 2 A1 printers. update: testing has been successful so far, PLA material holding well thanks to the lower surface area from the gyroid mesh.

Please let the bed cool to 40 degrees Celsius before removing the print. Please note that the walls are thinner than other poop deflectors. This is to help it flex into position during installation, guiding a small nub into a screw hole.

Let me know how I can improve the design.

fits well, sometimes pops off. filament sticks to it rendering it useless though

It pops off while printing? My testing is done on 2 A1 printers with PLA Matte filament, the deflector is still on after many hours of printing and there's no poop stuck to it. When it comes to filament being stuck, you can adjust the gyroid infill to be of a smaller percentage so that the holes are bigger. Lesser surface area reduces the chances of sticking. Thanks for the feedback!

Replying to @akbar :
ohh smart idea! no it sticks very well while printing. the filament being pushed into it sticks.
