Description
Hermes was a son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia, and he was the second youngest of the Greek gods, known as a trickster, patron of thieves, travelers, athletes, and leader of souls into the afterlife.
This statue captures a young Hermes, holding his main symbol, the kerykeion (caduceus in latin): a winged staff, usually with two snakes wrapped around it. The sculpture is a copy of a work from the 4th century BC.
