Lockable Contour & Skirting Board Gauge

Concept

I wanted to create a Contour Gauge to aid the marking & scribing of Skirting Board Housing joints & similar. I have therefore remixed the original model with an internal support structure & slotted contour blades to remove the frame enclosure from the top & the bottom of the assembly.

The Standard lower End Trim Blade can bend a little when the lock is applied. I have also therefore included a larger XL alternative part to arrest the distortion. This is also more practical for levelling in my specific use case.

I have included a bubble level in the XL End Trim. This is very much just a visual guide. Do not expect bubble levels at this price point to be anywhere near accurate.

This design uses M3 Heat Sets instead of M3 Nuts.

I have included a step file for personal customisation.

Linear Adjustment

The 100 mm version uses 41 blades @ 2.4 mm high

The 160 version uses 66 blades @ 2.4 mm high.

I have also included a 0.4 mm spacer which can be used in multiples to reduce or increase the number of blades to improve locking of the blades. The spacer can be quite fiddly to use. When satisfied with the adjustment to tolerance, it may be neater to modify the End Cap to suit any variation. I did not use the spacer in either model illustrated.

Printing

Supports are not required.

Some parts rely on small amounts of bridging to print.

It is recommended that all parts should be printed in the orientation published.

The Locking Cap STL includes the padlock symbols & arrows within the part. They can either be left as is if printing in single colour or the part can be split in the slicer and the symbols removed to provide a rebated detail in single colour.

Printed with 4 perimeters, 4 top & bottom layers and 30% infill in PLA & PETG (PETG for the spring only).
