Description

This is a remix of the fabulous darren.meier AMS hub cable manager for X/P series you can find at this page that uses 6x2mm magnets.

Since I only had different sizes of magnets at home, I decided to remix it for making it fix 6x2mm magnets.
I tried to import his model into Fusion 360, but since I'm not good enough, after spending a night over it I decided to take all the measures from the model and then recreating it from scratch - another long night, so little changes can be found, but the model is 100% compatible.

Printing

The provided profile has:

  • supports only for the required parts (the magnets' holes);
  • low speed first layer;
  • 3mm of external brim;

These are usually my settings for printing without using any glue.

Post-production

After printing you'll have a smooth surface on the back, if you're thinking about using double-sided tape, you can leave supports and use it as is. If you use the magnets you will have to use a wire cutter to break through the bottom of supports and then remove them easily by twisting (took me less than a minute).

Bill of materials

  • at least one M3x12 screw (depending on how you fix it) to secure the item in place;
  • (optional) double sided tape;
  • (optional) up to 8 6x2mm circular magnets;

Before doing anything i suggest you to read the original model page, because everything is explained there much better that I could repeat.

The fast release AMS Hub PTFE Release Buttons you can see in my pictures are a model designed by YelTrik Designs available here.
