Description

Marble Castle - REWORK

Update V1.01 (Changelog Bottom)

I proudly present the complete new designed Marble Castle. An easy printable & nice looking, full functional desk fidget toy.

Push the button to let the marbles climb the stairs and turn the knob to let them go out of the house.

A endless fun desk fidget toy for old and young!

YouTube Short

Some new features and rework to my old model

  • now for Ø14 marbles (Perfect for the marble run kit 003 balls)
  • added a tunnel
  • completely redesigned with brick structure and balcony
  • gears instead of rubber band
  • no spring is needed - lever and gravity works perfect
  • “secret” marble compartment at the backside
  • Castle includes the base, all functional assembly from bottom
  • All parts are fixed with press fit connections

I added a print profile with a bit of coloring of the castle (decent filan´ment changes), you can paint it in slicer even more. But you can print the castle in single color as well! Even then it is beautiful!

The second print profile is identical, but with 0,1 layer height in track section for better marble rolling.

Edit: creator updated files and it works perfectly now, thanks!! it printed well but I did make some minor changes to the steps, my marbles kept rolling backwards, even when I lifted the front end a bit, so I added a small lip to the back edge of the steps, problem solved

the separate section of 2 steps that are printed separately. the marble kept rolling backwards off of them. I checked to make sure that me table was level, it was. So I just made a couple simple adjustments in tinkercad, I put a lip across the back edge of the steps and put a small groove in the surface so the marble stays in the center of the step and doesn't roll backwards. I can send you a pic if you'd like. oh and I gave the surface a bit more of a slope

Can you check if the overhangs of the castle, which act as stop for the stairs printed good? I think that is the problem. I updated the this section lastly.

I like this castle very much and very happy to have a new version. However, the new version has some problems. First of all, the second staircase is not high enough and there is a ridge between it and the slide, so the ball cannot go up (pic 2). In addition, the stairs are easy to get stuck (pic 3) , the last thing is that compared with the gear in your video, it is a bit larger, causing the gear to rotate a little tight. Can you provide a file for raising the height of the second staircase to fix the first problem?

Thank you very much for the detailed review iam actually on short vacation without printer and slicer😬. I changed on the first day after release the height of the staircase a little bit. It could be you have the new castle with the"old" stair. Can you only print the stairs again for confirmation. Another fault could be a bad overhang at the middle stair section(picture). For the gears i can provide a bit smaller gearset on Saturday or could it be that the x/y compensation is a bit of on your print settings? kind regards

Yes, it was a problem with the overhang. After I sanded the overhang part, the problem was solved. The stairs occasionally failed to go down because of the problem with the lever hole. I expanded it and it was solved. Thank you very much.

Very nice 👍🏼 I wanna create more space for the overhang and also for the gears a bit more tolerance on the revision. Thanks for helping making things better.

updated files fixed the issue, the ball still rolls backwards off the bottom step but only if I mash the button. what can I say, I'm a beast, as long as I push it gently it's fine 😂 thanks for the fix

Hm, i printed on two machines 4 times and all work. Could you show pics where it clamp? Or could it be a filament problem?
